SC stays cattle ban for whole country

New Delhi July 12: A shock has occurred to the Central government.Supreme Court yesterday has stayed the notification banning sale and purchase of cattle from animal markets for slaughter to be implemented all over the India. The Apex Court has extended the earlier stay order issued by Madras High Court and it would be applicable for 3 months.

The Central government on May 23 have issued an order for banning the cattle sale for slaughter purposes. The order comes as a shock to cow protectors because they demanded a nationwide ban on beef consumption and cow slaughter because it is a holy animal for Hindus.

Union Government had told SC that it was considering the various representations made on the issue, and would make amendments to the rules if required. Meanwhile political parties have been divided over the judgment.

AIMIM party leader Owaisi has welcomed the judgment and said that it is a tight slap on the face of Gau Rakshaks. While the BJP has welcomed the move but said that we will make some modifications and we will implement the ban .
