Bandaru Dattatreya insulted by Police

Hyderabad, July 10: Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has been insulted by the police officials here On Sunday morning, During the Bonalu Festival at Secunderabad Temple.

While he went to Mahamakali Amma temple at 7:30 AM the police did not allow his vehicle to drive up to the temple.

The people around him said the police had acted in a high-handed manner and had not followed protocol.They also added that Mr. Dattatreya did not make it an issue

People Further said that police denied permission, Union Minister walked almost 500 meters to the temple and had darshan of the goddess.



Mr. Dattatreya reached the area at about 7.30 am and conveyed to the police that he should rush to the airport and catch a flight to Tirupati to attend a function and that his wife was suffering from arthritis and could not walk the distance. His vehicle was not allowed through.

When contacted said a communication gap led to the incident.

Dattatreya had cooperated with the police and had not made it an issue. "I spoke to the minister and expressed regrets for what happened," North Zone DCP B. Sumathi said.
