Etela sought report on irregularities in Treasury Dept

Hyderabad, July 7: The Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender addressed in a review meeting with finance department officials here on Thursday.

He stated that The Telangana State has bagged the number one rank in as many as 17 areas of governance in a short span of three years which is a remarkable achievement.

The Minister was speaking at a high-level review meeting with officials of finance, audit, treasury, works and accounts, insurance and pay and accounts departments of 31 districts.

He wanted the departmental officials to take the initiative in checking diversion of funds after they are released from the Finance department and ensure that they are used for the specific purpose that the funds are meant for.

The Minister appreciated the department staff for effectively carrying out scores of programs despite limited manpower resources. "The Finance department's payments for various programs is higher than the expenditure incurred during the undivided Andhra Pradesh," he said,

He congratulated the staff for the wide use of technology for speedy disposal of files in the department. "Officials should take a call on the delay in payment of bills," the Minister advised.

Reviewing the Works and Accounts Department, the Minister said that after the formation of Telangana State, the government had put in all efforts to increase the capital expenditure. he said.

The Minister directed the Principal Secretary (Finance), M Ramakrishna Rao, to provide pucca buildings, computers and sufficient staff in the Treasury Department in the districts since its functioning is crucial.

Rajender also sought a detailed report on irregularities that had taken place in some district treasuries in recent times.

Stating that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had termed Telangana State as the most happening State in the country, he urged the officials to work towards attaining the goal of Bangaru Telangana.

Government advisor G R Reddy, Ramakrishna Rao, Finance Secretary Shiva Shankar and other Heads Of Departments participated in the meeting.
