New Chief Election Comissioner takes charge

New Delhi, July 6: A new officer has taken charge. Achal Kumar Joti today has taken charge as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).Earlier on Wednesday Nasim Zaidi has quit CEC post after his term came to an end. He has said that his term was satisfactory and all parties have fully cooperated with him.

Currently, new CEC is a former Gujarat chief secretary. He has taken in charge of the post in the Nirvachan Sadan which is Election Commission's office located in Delhi.

Joti has also worked as the Secretary of Industry, Revenue and Water Supply Departments of Gujarat state. Earlier he was one of 3 member Election Commission member from May 8, 2015.

Let's hope that new CEC performs his duty well and clears all the doubts political parties have especially on the hacking of EVMs.
