Supreme Court agreed Tamilnadu MLA petition

Chennai, July 06: The Supreme Court has been agreed to hear on July 11 a petition filed by Tamil Nadu MLA 'Mafoi' K. Pandiarajan seeking to quash of the February 18 confidence vote, here on Wednesday.

Coming to details that, The apex court bench also sought the help of newly-appointed Attorney General KK Venugopal in the case and asked him to be present in the court when the matter is heard.

According to the reports, In March this year, Pandiarajan, who is affiliated with Palaniswami's rival O Panneerselvam's faction of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, had moved the Supreme Court seeking to quash the trust vote. He had alleged that while passing the resolution, the principles of "secrecy, free and fair elections" had been violated, The Times of India reported.

The writ petition filed under Article 32 through Supreme Court advocate Sunil Fernandes sought the Supreme Court to direct the Assembly Speaker Dhanapal to conduct a fresh Vote of Confidence motion in favor of Mr. Palaniswamy.
