Mobile App launched by Power Ministry

New Delhi, July 05: The Power Ministry Piyush Goyal has been launched a mobile application and a portal here on Wednesday. The portal and app will help the states to select power producers through e-bidding to procure power by transferring to them domestic coal under the flexible utilization of dry fuel policy.

Initially, This will enable the States to save at least Rs. 4,000 crore per annum, which will reach Rs. 20,000 crore in the next five years, "he said.

The Minister launched the MERIT app (Merit Order Dispatch of Electricity for Rejuvenation of Income and Transparency)’ and the portal for providing an e-Bidding solution to states for selecting Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

The merit app, e-auction portal states that power producers can be selected, and in turn, the Dry Fuel process can be transferred to domestic coal power producers.

While speaking with the media officials he said that "The app and the web portal would result in optimum utilization of Coal which would save the consumer close to Rs 20,000 crores five years down the line."

One of the senior officials also said that initially, this will help states save Rs 3-4,000 crore per annum while procuring power.
