Minister launched non stop bus services

Hyderabad, July 02: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy said that, "The KCR government would adopt a humane approach towards TSRTC and continue to sanction funds for its strengthening through the development of infrastructure and introduction of new buses."

He said the RTC bus stations would be given a facelift and infrastructure will be developed at a cost of Rs 60 crore.

Launching a new nonstop bus service from Kodangal to Hyderabad and Palle Velugu service to Vikarabad on Saturday, the Minister said that the government was planning to operate buses to all villages in the State.

"We are unable to run buses to around 1,300 villages due to bad road conditions. However, this will be improved in a phased manner," he added.

To strengthen the RTC, the government allotted Rs 1,000 crore and efforts are on to make RTC financially self-sustained, he added.

The Minister said the government was contemplating constructing cinema halls inside the bus stations besides commercial complexes in the available land.

Further, around 1,400 new buses would be introduced at a cost of Rs 350 crore and the Mini AC Vajra services, which are receiving goods response from the public, will be introduced across the State.

He informed that tenders were invited for the road extension work between Hyderabad-Bijapur Highway with the Central government funding of Rs 133 crore. He also assured people to strive for sanction of Narayanapet-Parigi railway line.
