President Pranab Mukherjee Congratulates Modi for GST rollout

Kolkata, India June 29: The country is gearing up for a reform.Country President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday has lauded the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP-led NDA government for rolling out GST from July 1.

President has said that finally, the country will be coming under one taxation system.He also said that a customer had to pay 30 to 40 percent extra than the cost of production in the current taxation system. He also said that GST roll out is will subsume all Central and State in direct taxes.

The President further has also remembered the fact that he had failed to break the ice even after he introduced the Constitutional Amendment to usher in the new indirect tax regime in 2011 when he was a Finance Minister.He also said that I could not finish the task but the current Prime Minister and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had made sure that GST is a reality.

Finally, he concluded his speech at Global Summit 2017 by saying that "the process of engagement had just started and it will continue even after July 1".
