Police arrests Chain Snatcher

Hyderabad June 25: The Hyderabad police officials have been nabbed a chain snatcher who was allegedly involved in about 26 snatching offenses, here on Saturday.

Coming to matter, According to the police officials report, He was involved in two robberies and two vehicle thefts in the three police commissioners, police also added that about 900 grams of gold were seized from his possession.

According to the police, Shakeel Ahmed alias Mohammed Ali, 36, an electrician from Kamatipura, was a native of Kadugondanahalli, Bengaluru.

Task Force DCP B.Limba Reddy said Ahmed was involved in many chain snatchings and robberies in Bengaluru as well. He was arrested and jailed but had jumped bail and got involved in a kidnap and murder case. He was then sentenced to seven years imprisonment by the Greater Sessions Court in Mumbai.

Police also added that "During imprisonment, he got a parole for three months. He escaped and came to Hyderabad with his family in 2006. A case in this connection was booked in Bengaluru. He stayed in Vattepalli, Falaknuma and started committing chain snatching and robberies since 2012 in Hyderabad and Cyberabad."

Shakeel’s modus operandi was roaming on stolen bikes and targeting women. He would stop the bike opposite the target and snatch their chain before fleeing. He also intercepted cars, and stole them at knife point, police said.
