Educational consultancy director held for cheating students

Telangana, Hyderabad, June 24: The police officials have been arrested two persons here on Friday, including the director of an educational consultancy, on charges of cheating students with false promises of providing free admissions in engineering colleges.

The accused Sanjay Kumar and Muddam Nagesh was running a fake educational consultancy named KRRISH Education Services in Chaitanyapuri and had lured students with false promises of providing free education.

They had an understanding with some engineering colleges, which did not get sufficient admissions, and offered to refer these students to fill the seats.

"The Racket was aimed at swindling money given by the government to colleges under the fee reimbursement policy. They would get Rs 5,000 as a commission for each admission," said G Guru Raghavendra, Inspector, Chaitanyapuri.

The prime suspect, Sanjay, collected phone numbers from students and parents from counseling centers and offered them free admissions along with 100 per cent placement, free hostel, and transport. However, the plan went awry when the colleges started asking the students to pay the fee, the police said.

Police seized two laptops, eight mobile phones and Rs 4,300 in cash from the accused and produced them before the court.
