The patients must register their names in the Aadhaar database by August 31, 2017.

A gazette notification was issued in this regard by the Ministry. The notification says that "All TB patients availing medical services must submit Aadhar to get cash assistance". Since 2012, patients must register their names with Nikshay, a web-based application used by the authorities. The government has asked the staff to link the web portal with Aadhar database.

Finally, the officials said that patients will not be denied treatment for not possessing the biometric card. The government hopes that usage of Aadhar will help in saving the government funds by eliminating bogus patients.
