GHMC to conduct National Waste Management Summit

Hyderabad, June 15: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be hosting the National Waste Management Summit in Hyderabad on June 24.

The main focus of the summit is to identify the best practices and latest technologies to be used in solid waste management and promote them among the leaders of civic author stakeholders, including the public-private sectors.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said that delegates from the States of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Punjab, officials and public representatives from 20 municipal corporations across the entire country would be participating in the meeting.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao along with Mayor B. Rammohan will inaugurate the summit, he added.

He said some of the identified themes to be taken up at the summit were leadership and governance in waste management, best practices in sustainable waste management from public and private sectors, private-public partnership in local government development and corporate social responsibility in waste management, financing system and support in waste management and the role of technologies in waste management.
