AP ASHA Workers Protest to hike salaries

Vijayawada, June 13: The Andhra Pradesh Asha Workers Union General Secretary K.Dhanalakshmi demanded a minimum wage of Rs 6,000 for Asha activists.

Asha workers who came from different districts to resolve their demands have taken a protest in front of the District Medical Officer's Office on Monday.

Subsequently, they have started a protest at the Dharna Chowk of Alankar in Vijayawada.

While speaking on the occasion, Dhanalakshmi said that the Telangana government will pay Rs 6,000 and the Kerala government Rs 7,500 for Asha workers. In the AP state, the TDP government has been neglecting the hike of wages for Asha workers.

She warned the government that they will intensify the protests if the wages were not immediately raised. While Asha's workers were going from Dharna Chowk, police blocked them and moved to various police stations.

In this order, Police have arrested CITU district general secretary CH Srinivas, K.Durgarao, M. Srinivas, state treasurer A. Kamala and Nagaveni.
