TS Deputy CM launches CCTV cameras at Mecca Masjid

Hyderabad, June 7: The Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahmood Ali has launched the installation of 43 CCTV cameras in order to ensure the safety of the devotees at Mecca Masjid here on Tuesday.

Reviewing arrangements for Ramzan at the mosque, he said all the departments were directed to ensure safety and provide all facilities for devotees visiting the masjid.

Speaking to reporters after his noon prayers, Mr. Ali said the new CCTV unit would have staff round the clock to attend to any incident.

"The Ramzan budget this year will be around Rs. 30 crore, which is more than the previous year's, thanks to our Chief Minister," he said, adding that renovation work at around 350 mosques had already started.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started repair and paint work at all the mosques in the city. He said the Masjid was being renovated, including plastering of the old roof, paintwork, restoration of the fountain and other repairs.

A total of Rs. 8.48 crore has been sanctioned for the purpose. Water dispensers and air coolers were already arranged and pandals erected would remain until the completion of the festivities. Special teams have been employed to keep the premises tidy, Mr. Ali said.

The government would host the Dawat-e-Iftar for Muslims across the State, to respect those observing the holy month. Mosques across the State have also been decorated at a cost of Rs. 1.45 crore.

MIM MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri and Deputy Mayor Mohammed Baba Fasiuddin among others were present.
