Heavy rains claims 8 deaths

Himachal, June 7: Here 8 persons were killed and 15 others injured including four children, when a huge wall of a factory fallen due to heavy rains and storm in the industrial township of Baddi in Solan district here on Tuesday.

In-depth into the matter, The massive storm has appeared that the wall collapsed last night and a large number of migrant laborers sleeping at adjacent to the wall in Swarajmajra village were buried alive.

The SDM and DSP rushed to the spot and conducted rescue operations with the assistance of local people.

The bodies were recovered from the spot and injured persons were rushed to the nearby hospital while three seriously injured persons were referred to PGI, Chandigarh.

The deceased were identified as Ashrafi (35), his son and daughter Sailesh and Priti, Santosh Kumar and his wife Maya, Asha and her kids, Nanha and Jammi.

A severe thunderstorm, accompanied by heavy rains lashed several areas of Himachal, triggering landslides at numerous places and disrupting water supply.

The local MeT office has warned of thunderstorm and hailstorm at a few places in mid and lower hills tomorrow and wet spell in the state over the next three days.
