Pregnant woman Burnt alive by her Parents

Karnataka, June 6: A 21-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly burnt alive by her parents. This tragic incident took place in Karnataka's Bijapur district, on Saturday night.

According to reports, Banu Begam and Sharanappa Konnur a 24-years-old Dalit man were in love and continued their relationship. Both are residents of Gundakanala village.

Later they went to their Parents and explained about their Love but Parents refused to accept their marriage, so the couple decided and elope to Goa.

The Couple returned home after Begum got pregnant, with the hope that their parents would surely accept their marriage.

However, the parents did not accept their marriage and they asked Banu Begam to leave Shranappa. But she refused to do so both were brutally assaulted by her family members.



Parents of Begum wanted her to leave Shranappa and the boy's father was also not too pleased either. When the couple refused to give into their families' demands, Shranappa'sfather, along with Banu's mother, brother and sister brutally assaulted him on Saturday night,' Deputy Superintendent PK Patil as said.

He managed and escape with bite marks all over his body but Begum could not escape. He went to police station and complained about the situation and he returned with police, but the family members had set her on fire before that.

Shranappa received minor injuries while trying to recuse his wife Begum from the fire but was unsuccessful.

As per the Sources, police have arrested her brother Akbar, Davalbi (sister), mother, and Jilani (sister’s husband). They have been booked with cases of murder and assault.
