Uttar Pradesh truck accident occurred 22 passengers death 15 injured

Lucknow, June 5: Here another gruesome accident has occurred in Uttar Pradesh here on Monday, while bus rammed a truck in the wrong route at Uttar Pradesh Highway.

At least 22 passengers were charred to death and 15 injured when a bus collided head-on with a truck and burst into flames on National Highway 24 here early on Monday.

The bus of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) carrying 41 passengers from Delhi was on its way to Gonda in eastern Uttar Pradesh when the accident took place near Bada bypass.

Police officials said, "The accident involving a bus of UPSRTC and a truck took place between 1.00 am and 1.30 am."

"22 passengers of the bus died, while 15 sustained injuries. Six passengers are critically injured and have been hospitalized," he said.



Police said the impact of the head-on collision was so big that the diesel tank was completely damaged.

As most of the passengers were sleeping when the accident happened, they were charred to death. Some passengers saved their lives by breaking the windows and jumping out.

By the time fire tenders reached the spot and controlled the fire, many passengers were already charred to death.

IG S.K. Bhagat told the media that the bodies were charred beyond recognition and they will have to be identified only through DNA tests.
