Prannoy Roy raided by CBI

NewDelhi, June 5: Another criminal is being investigated.CBI has booked a case against Prannoy Roy founder of controversial English News Channel, his wife Radhika Roy, a private company and others for causing a loss to a bank.

Raids are being conducted at the residence of the Roys at Greater Kailash-I in New Delhi and 4 other locations of him.

Sources say that he and his wife and others cheated a bank and created a loss of Rs 48 crore to ICICI Bank. The media group has called the raids as "witch-hunt" based on " old endless false accusations." The owners of the channel said that we will fight tirelessly against this witch-hunt by multiple agencies.



They have also issued a strong warning and said that We will not succumb to these attempts which undermine the democracy and free speech in India.Political experts feel that the raids are part of a game being played by the central government to control the press.

Union cabinet minister of Information and Broadcasting M Venkiah Naidu has reacted to the incident and said that "the BJP government and PM Modi believes in freedom of expression, and we have strong faith in democracy and we have no interest in controlling the press".

He ended his speech by saying that we will not be threatened by any media group and the law will take its course.
