Hotels in South India to be closed

Hyderabad, MAY 29: Are u planning to eat in hotels tomorrow, just wait because the hotels and restaurants in South India will be closed tomorrow.

The hotels in South India have decided to observe a day's bandh on May 30 to register their protest. They have said that they are closing the hotels because of the high GST rates announced by the Union Government.

They further said that common man would suffer because of the proposed rates. The GST Council has fixed the tax rate of non-AC hotels at 12 per cent and on AC hotels at 18 percent. Currently, the tax rate is 5%.

The Association fears that high rates will drive away the ordinary public from restaurants.

Finally, they have argued that AC in the hotel shouldn't be viewed as the luxury because many people these days demand them.

Let's hope that their voice reaches GST council so that the rates would be cut.
