KCR asks MLAs to examine

Hyderabad, May 29: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has asked Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs to take the initiative of examining ongoing construction and repair works of canals and also the progress of Mission Bhagiratha.

Asking them to keep tabs on the progress of works from time to time, the Chief Minister said they should intervene and speed up works whenever problems crop up.

The Chief Minister was addressing a group of legislators at a meeting in Pragathi Bhavan here on various projects.

"Before the completion of Kaleshwaram project barrage and pump houses, the construction of canals should be completed and the MLAs should pay attention to it," he said.

HE also added that the projects like Devadula and SRSP already had canals ready but were full of silt as they were not in use rendering feeder channels and canals useless.

“There is an urgent need to repair them,” he said, and urged the MLAs to identify places where repair works have to be carried out on priority and ensure that the officials are on the job.

"There are many irrigation projects coming up in the State and water is to be supplied through the canal system and hence, the canals should be completed first," the Chief Minister said. The tanks can be filled up with water from barrages if the canals are ready, he added.

later, CM of Telangana State, Mr K. Chandrasekhara Rao called on the Governor, Mr E.S.L. Raj Bhavan sources indicated that KCR thanked the Governor for sending GST Bill to centre. Mr KCR also consulted about supporting presidential candidates.
