GHMC to give prizes for best colony

Hyderabad, May 28: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to give prizes for the best colony in each zone.

Colonies have to fill a self-declaration form consisting of various components for assessment about source composting — home and community, participation in awareness activities, number of households, participation in programmes conducted by the civic body, incentives to local sanitation workers, planting of saplings, open urination/defecation control, burning of garbage and open dumping points, among others.



Awards will be given away during the World Environment Day celebrations on June 5 and several voluntary agencies have already shown interest in participating in the programme.

Welfare associations can obtain the self-assessment forms by sending a mail to rwas.ghmc@gmail.com or from the Office of the Deputy Commissioners of GHMC.

Competitions will also be held at the ward-level in the first week of every month, awarding the best auto rickshaw driver, the Swachh servant maid, best hotel, best Kalyana Mandapam as part of the campaign.
