PM Narendra Modi greets nation on Ramadan

New Delhi, May 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the nation on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan here on Saturday, where Muslims keep a dawn-to-dusk fast.

Modi took his social network Twitter and tweeted that, "Greetings on the start of Ramzan. May this holy month enhance the spirit of togetherness, peace and harmony across the world,"

We already knew that Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, ends with Eid ul-Fitr and normally depending on the calendar it lasts either 29 or 30 days, with the sighting of the new moon as the indicator.



Earlier, the Supreme Court decided that Saturday is the 1st of Ramadan 1438H corresponding to May 27, 2017.

On Saturday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a day after he skipped a meeting of opposition parties convened by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

The JD-U president was in the capital to attend a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Modi in honour of visiting Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth on Saturday
