Dinakaran case: Sukesh Chandrashekar denied bail

Chennai, May 22: A special court here rejected the bail plea of alleged middleman and sidelined AIADMK leader T.T.V. Dinakaran's aide Sukesh Chandrashekar in a bribe case here on Monday.

looking into details that the Special Judge Poonam Chaudhry said it was not appropriate to grant bail to Chandrashekar at this stage.

However, The court observed that he is allegedly involved in a serious crime and could tamper with the evidence if released on bail.they noted the investigation in the case is still on.

Meanwhile, the court deferred the hearing on the bail plea of Dinakaran and his close aide Mallikarjuna to May 26.

Dinakaran, accused of trying to bribe Election Commission officials to get the 'Two leaves' poll symbol for a party faction led by his aunt V.K Sasikala, was arrested on April 25. Chandrashekar was arrested on April 16.

Dinakaran, Chandrashekar and Mallikarjuna, a long-time friend of Dinakaran, and 'hawala' operator from Delhi Naresh Jain are already in judicial custody till May 29.

we already knew that The court's direction came on Delhi Police Crime Branch's plea seeking to obtain Dinakaran’s consent for a voice sample. The court had yesterday allowed the police to take steps for obtaining his consent.

The police had earlier sought permission to obtain the consent of Dinakaran and arrested alleged middleman Sukesh Chandrashekar to compare their voices with those contained in a CD recovered during the investigation.
