Woman committed suicide due to fear of fixed marriage

Hyderabad, May 15: Here a 23-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide, due to fear of fixed marriage by hanging herself to the ceiling at her residence in Jeedimetla, here on Sunday.

While coming to details, The deceased woman identified as S Swapna went into depression after her father fixed an alliance which she did not like. Her father Shankar, who is a tailor in NLB Nagar in Shahpur, had fixed the alliance and Swapna were against the marriage as she feared it would land the family financial distress.

With her engagement fixed for Monday, Swapna committed suicide on Sunday when her father and brother were not at home, according to the police.

Based on the complaint, Jeedimetla police have registered a case under sections pertaining to suspicious death and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
