Going into the news, the Mother's Day gift of a 90-year old daughter-in-law Chandana to her aunt, who considers as her mother, made it to the headlines as a touching gesture. Selling her five goats, on which Chandana runs her livelihood, she gifted a toilet to her 102-year aunt.
One day, Chandana's aunt fractured her leg after slipping down on the floor while she was using the open-defecation system. And it has eventually made her daughter-in-law to take up the decision of gifting her a toilet.
We all know that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been campaigning big time for elimination of open defecation in rural areas.
Already several cities and towns in India already equipped with essential sanitation system, this government is still working towards making the entire nation 100% open defecation free by 2019.
