Hyderabad Water board launched new 75 mini jetting machines

Hyderabad, May 13: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has introduced a new 75 mini jetting machines in the city here on Saturday.

These new mini jetting machines reduce the efforts are being made to introduce advanced hydraulic grabbers to collect the waste from pipelines.

Unlike, the conventional jetting machines, the mini-machines come handy in clearing choked sewer lines in the lanes and by-lanes. Equipped with 120 meters pipes, the mini jetting machines can also move into narrow lanes to clear sewer lines.

Currently, the HMWSSB is using 57 Airtech machines with 8,000 to 10,000 capacity. However, these heavy machines cannot easily enter the narrow lanes of the city.

While cleaning of huge sewer lines is being handled by the conventional jetting machines, manual scavenging is being done to clear the 200 and 300 mm diameter pipelines.

There were incidents where workers lost their lives due to suffocation. To address such issues, the HMWSSB Managing Director M Dana Kishore took the decision of introducing 75 mini jetting machines. Already, 30 machines have been procured and the rest are expected to arrive shortly.

The Water Board spends around Rs 3.5 crore every month towards the operation of these machines. Before the onset of rainy season, these mini-machines will be supplied in each division, he said. A trial run will be conducted in BJR Nagar at Khairthabad on Saturday.
