Medical stores in Railway stations

New Delhi, May 13: The center has taken a decision, which is under the scheme of 'Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janashakthi' to provide medical stores(Jan Aushadhi stores (JAS)) in railway stations.

In-depth into matter, The Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar on Friday said that Generic Medical centers will be set up at 1,000 major railway stations across the country.

He will request the Railway Minister Suresh Babu about the decision. He said that the decision was made to provide quality medicines to people at low cost.

He said that in order to make affordable medicines available to the poor people in small towns and villages, their ministry wants to set up a public drug center even at the bus stations.

"By the end of this year, we will have a target to reach at least 3,000 JAS across India. The turnover of JAS will also touch Rs 60 crore, up from Rs 3 crore," Kumar said.
