High Court suspended Guntur Municipal commissioner

Guntur, May 12: The Common bench High court had suspended and imprisonment for one month to a Municipal commissioner S Nagalakshmi of Guntur district for a contempt case on Thursday.

While coming to the matter, The bench, however, refused to extend the same exemption in respect of the Rs 2000 penalty imposed on the commissioner.

The bench of Justice Challa Kodanda Ram and Justice N Balayogi said that "Let her pay it," which was hearing an appeal by the state authorities that wanted the punishment awarded to the commissioner by a single judge be set aside.

Nagalakshmi incurred the annoyance of a single judge in the case of an illegal construction undertaken by a doctor in Guntur.

Despite a restraint order from the court, she filed a misleading affidavit in the HC saying that they were acting in accordance with law and in tune with the court orders.
