New Delhi, MAY 12: A decision to change the future of Indian Agriculture in India was taken by Central Government yesterday.

The Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) has approved the use of GM Mustard seeds and it recommended the same for Environment Ministry.

We know that Genetically Modified GM crops are developed using Biotechnology by changing genes in the plant crops.

With the grant to permission Mustard is all set to become Indias First GM food crop to be cultivated for commercial purposes.

We know that the approval for GM Brinjal is pending at GEAC because of safety issues. Although some environmentalists and farmers opposed its introduction.

The Regulator said that it has taken a decision after subcommittee has submitted a report regarding the safety aspects of the crop. We have studied its details and gave its nod.
