RBI rejects RTI on demonetization

Delhi MAY, 11: Yes, Soon after the announcement of demonetization (ie., after the ban of high valued currency in the country) there has been a severe cash crisis in the country. Also, the People of the nation burst out on inconvenience (or) insufficient amount, they faced.

Even after the post demonetisation also, RBI is not all concerned over the issue, felt Public.

The other criticism made by people is that till now total amount deposited in bank accounts between NOV 8 to MARCH 31 is not disclosed by RBI. RBI has a rejected an RTI on demonetization.

The details are as follows:

The Reserve bank of India has rejected a Right to Information application to give the details of the discussions it undertook before demonetization.

RBI said that "the information asked in the application is very sensitive and we cannot disclose it because it may affect the Fiscal and Monetary policies of India in future and it involves security issues".

RBI also added that "we cannot give the details of discussions we held with PMO because it is not the role of RBI to disclose such information".

The RTI was rejected under section 8 of RTI act which says that information cannot be disclosed if it involves security issues.
