GHMC to make all roads are free of potholes upto May 31

Hyderabad,As we know that, The Telangana CM KCR has set a deadline of May 31 to clear all potholes on roads in the city.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) also has committed strongly — the monsoon is hardly a month away and the Chief Minister KCR set a deadline of May 31 to ensure that all roads are free of potholes.

With the bitter memories of last year, when downpours battered almost all streets in Hyderabad, still fresh, the municipal corporation says it is already on the job. “There will be no repeat of last year,” officials said.

GHMC, according to its Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, is filling 40 to 50 potholes every day, besides leveling manholes. “The objective is to make sure there is no waterlogging and stagnation, which eventually damages roads,” Reddy said.

Emphasis is on addressing complaints lodged by citizens through MyGHMC app or other modes. Each Assistant and Executive Engineer is instructed to inspect at least 100 m of road in their respective jurisdictions and to take up repair works accordingly, Reddy said.

One of the most important factors this year will be that GHMC already issued orders to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and other departments to suspend road digging works after May 31.
