UP police seized 7.5 crore of 2000 notes

Lucknow May 06: Uttar Pradesh Police officials on Friday seized Rs. 7.5 crore in currency notes of Rs 2000

The police officials have seized from two cars belonging to Ponty Chadha group at Daliganj crossing in Lucknow.

According to reports, Three people are being questioned by the police in this matter after they were taken into police custody. These three are believed to be employed with the Ponty Chadha group.

The seizure of the hefty amount came after police were checking vehicles near the Hasanganj area of the state capital. Two luxurious cars were stopped on the grounds of suspicion. Upon inspection, the cops found 3 cartons in the bonnet of the two cars in which 7.5 crores were stocked in the new currency.

In a similar incident, demonetised currency notes of Rs 1000 found were found dumped near a drain in Ashiyana area in Lucknow.
