Impact of Facebook likes

Social media is becoming more extensively day-by-day. Generally, we will upload our Pictures on Facebook and used to check the likes which we received. But these 'likes' on posts do not make people feel better, research revealed.

The Researchers from the University of South Wales made a research involving more than 340 participants.

According to preliminary research from them, those thumbs-up or heart notifications on Facebook and Twitter do not make much of a difference when it comes to feeling happy.

The British Psychological Society's Annual Conference was held in the UK on Wednesday,

The participants are recruited via Twitter and Facebook. They gave 25 statements and were asked to say how much they agreed or disagreed with relating to the ways people appreciate on social media.

Martin Graff from the University of South Wales in the UK said, 'The proliferation of social media use has led to general concerns about the effects on our mental health,'.'Although this is just a relatively small scale study the results indicate that the ways we interact with social media can affect how we feel and not always positively,' Graff said.

The results also showed that receiving likes did not make them feel better when they were down.
