A gang busted, for cheating job aspirants

Hyderabad, April 30: The Cyberabad police have arrested four persons here on Saturday for allegedly cheating people on the pretext of getting them jobs in Singapore Airlines.

According to the police, Sumit Gupta and Narender of Delhi, and Ajay Shanker Tiwari and Chetan Kumar of Ghaziabad sent emails to people, introducing themselves as executives from shine.com — a job portal. They sent the mails from infoshine.vacancy@india.com. They told their targets that there were job openings in Singapore Airlines and collected money.

M Srikanth of Hyderguda in Rajendranagar who received one such email contacted the gang as he was in search of a good job. He works at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. On instructions of the accused, Srikanth uploaded his resume on shine.com.

In December, he received a phone call from the company and the caller told him that he was shortlisted for a job in the airline. The caller asked him to email copies of all certificates and pay a registration fee of Rs 6,800.

"In subsequent communications, the gang collected Rs 2.04 lakh from Srikanth on various pretexts," said S Jayaram, ACP Cyber Crime.

Srikanth realized he was duped after paying Rs 2.04 lakh and approached the police.

The police tracked the email ids and phone numbers to Noida in Uttar Pradesh. A police team, led by Sub-Inspector K Vijayavardhan, went to Noida and arrested the gang.
