TSPSC claims,85% applicants failed to submit Sport certificate

Hyderabad, April 29: The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has released a notification, which states that, The 85% of the applied candidates have failed to satisfy the requirements for the post of physical education teachers in Gurukul schools.

According to a TSPSC, The candidates who have Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) degree, must also have a sports certificate at the school, college, state or national level to qualify for the exam.

"When the government had no such requirement during the admissions at the college-level, how can they ask for it now? If they really felt that physical education teachers should have a sports certificate, then they should have made it compulsory for those seeking BPEd admission," said Praneeth, a BPEd qualified candidate adding how the system isn't even accepting applications if the sports certificate is not uploaded.

Candidates said that discussions were afloat to hold a protest in Hyderabad and pressurise the government to relax the norms. Of the 400-500 candidates seeking a PE teacher's post, hardly 10 to 15 candidates have a sports certificate or meet the other requirements set by the government, said sources.

"Our batch had more than 100 students out of which not even a handful of them have a sports certificate. Now, what will happen to rest of us who were eagerly waiting for this notification," asked Swamy, who is trying to land a government job.

The notification for the said exam was released about 20 days ago and the last date for applications is May 4.
