Rachakonda Police warned about Chaddi Banian Gang

Hyderabad, April 28: The Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M Bhagavat has released a circular on Wednesday to police officers asking them to be vigilant, suspecting that culprits, known as the Chaddi Banian gang, were are moving in rural localities.

In the circular, Bhagavat has said that the gang, known for breaking and entering into houses, was active in rural areas. In the last three days, some eight cases had been reported in villages of Chottupal and Kandakur mandal.

The robbery gang was mainly to target and enter locked houses or houses in which residents were sleeping on the terrace.The police commissioner asked policemen to alert villagers and people living in colonies.

In the early hours of Wednesday alone,some unknown persons had committed a series of thefts from five residences located at Timmapur village of Kandukur police limits. The miscreants decamped with gold, silver and cash worth Rs 2 lakh.

According to the police, the Chaddi Banian Gang members, also known as Kachcha banian gang, belonged to the Paridhi community and were notorious for committing robberies.

The Chaddi Banian Gangs were violent men, who robbed houses clad in their underclothes and often masked their faces. They applied oil or mud on their body to make it difficult for them to be caught.

The gang had committed offences in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and was believed to be posing as beggars in the daytime to conduct recees of houses. The gang members were also known to possess lethal weapons.
