An ablaze woman gave birth to a healthy Baby

Nizamabad, April 21: A 20-year-old housewife, who was set ablaze allegedly by her husband, has given birth to a healthy baby even while undergoing treatment for critical burns.

While coming to details, The woman Sana Begum was battling for life, her newborn child was safe, the police said quoting doctors. Her husband Shaik Muzeeb was a daily-wage worker. He married her a year ago. They were residents of Nizam Colony here.

For past few months, he had allegedly been harassing for additional dowry. On Tuesday night, he picked up an argument with his wife over the dowry matter. After heated exchanges with his pregnant wife, Mujeeb doused her in kerosene and lighted a matchstick.

As the nine-month-pregnant woman screamed for help with fire engulfing her, neighbours rushed to her rescue.

They called up 108 and shifted the woman to Government General Hospital in the ambulance.



With serious burns, her condition was critical. The woman delivered a baby boy on Wednesday morning while the medical treatment for her burns was on.

"Sana's condition is critical but the baby is safe," hospital superintendent Ramulu said.

A criminal case invoking sections 307 (attempt to murder), 498-A (dowry harassment) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Muzeeb, Sub-Inspector of Police, M. Lakshman, said. Provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act were also applied. in the case.
