Modi to launch Mission Bhagiratha

Hyderabad, April 20: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a major component of the Rs 40,000-crore Mission Bhagiratha project if efforts by the TRS government.

In all likelihood, he will switch on the button to commence drinking water supply to households.

If PM's visit confirmed, it would be the second time he will be gracing the project inauguration as it was in August last year that he launched it in Gajwel, the assembly constituency of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Sources said TRS government is keen to invite Modi as the Centre is impressed with the speed at which the project is being implemented and the state has been successful in seeking loans from banks to execute the project.

The Centre is in favor of asking the other states to study the Telangana Mission Bhagiratha model, which was actually planned after studying the Gujarat water grid project, but improved and modified to suit local conditions and extend water supply to more homes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly has a very positive impression about the project, senior officials in Telangana Rural Water Supply department said.
