New Delhi April 20: From now onwards, The Voters will get the receipt for their Vote as govt declared here on Wednesday.The receipt reveals that it verify the votes are cast correctly with voted party symbol.
This will applicable from 2019 general elections, from this perspective Govt have purchased 16.15 lakhs vvpat units at a cost of 3.173 cr from Bharat Electronics, Bangalore, and Electronics corporation of India, Hyderabad.
Why they are implementing this is to overcome the political noises questioning the credibility of electronic voting machines
The cabinet, in a meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi, has approved VVPAT machines.
The approval comes within days of chief election commissioner Naseem Zaidi shooting off a reminder to law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on the issue, urging for speedy sanctioning of funds for VVPAT purchase.
