South Central Railways earned highest Revenue

Hyderabad, April 17: The South Central railway zone has performed well, registering its highest-ever passenger earnings in 2016-17. This was accompanied by gains in the number of passengers being ferried year-on-year.

"The total earnings of passenger services is estimated to be around Rs.3,564.8 crores during the financial year, which is the highest ever in the history of South Central Railway. The total earnings are Rs. 252 crores higher than the previous year's revenue," SCR said in a statement.

While additional coaches, special trains and the high-demand Krishna Pushkaram season contributed to the increase in earnings, focussed ticket checking drives brought in 125 crore revenue in fines.
