Permanent Ration cards in Telangana

Hyderabad, March 20: The Telangana Government would be planned to issue the permanent Ration Cards for public soon, Civil Supply Minister Etala Rajender informed the Assembly on Monday.

Mr Rajender, during question hour said the printing of Cards was kept pending after printing half of the total cards due to reorganization of districts. Now as the process of reorganization of districts had been completed, it would be taken up soon.

He said that the government has been taken up several measures to curb malpractices in Civil Supplies Department.



The Minister said that an amount of Rs 6380 crore was spent during 2015-2016 for supply of rice at Rs one per kg under National Food Security Act (NFSA). Of the total amount, the subsidy component of the state was Rs 2665 crore and the Central Government was 3715 crore.

He said at present about 2.74 crore people (each 6 kgs) consisting of 51 lakh families were getting rice at Rs 1 per kg against 1.9 crore people during 2015-16. The government was ready to extend this scheme for more people, the Minister added.
