MP Kavitha: The more women, the more GDP

Hyderabad, March 7: The Young Women Social Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YWSEDP) has been conducted by Diageo in association with The British Council Monday, in the presence of the honorable Chief Guest, K Kavitha, Member of Parliament, and K Ratna Prabha, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka.Sustainable solutions that could lead to economic growth were the need of the hour, said Nizamabad MP K Kavitha here on Monday."The country s GDP will go up if more women are employed," she quipped.The programme provided entrepreneurship education by training women master trainers, and through them having training imparted to a larger group of women and help them become entrepreneurs.On the conclusion of the programme, a critical mass of over 80 master trainers in different cities of the country cascaded training to over 4,300 beneficiaries thereby promoting social entrepreneurship amongst women, Mei-kwei Barker, Director, British Council, South India said.The event also included a panel discussion on ‘Women Social Enterprise Ecosystem in India” with the participation of eminent panelists.
