In the recent times, GHMC investigated about drain problems, they got the unexpected truth in some areas.The 90 percent of blocked drains in Hyderabad are mostly due to waste flushed down toilets, garbage dumped in open drains or directly into manholes. Plastics, napkins, kitchen waste, cigarette butts, leftovers all thrown into open drains and manholes, this will makes drains to overflow.Some mongers avoid paying extra for bulk garbage, hotels, and hospitals dump garbage in open drains and manholes. The majority of hotels in Hyderabad are non-vegetarian and they throw animal waste also into the public drainage. Similarly, roadside eateries dump their waste into manholes and drains. According to senior citizens, there is a need to extend the drain canals to 5,000 km from the present 1,500 km and put up nearly 4.2 lakh manholes from the present two lakh manholes. Due to above reasons in Hyderabad, GHMC is going to action based on the fine system, they will be fine, who leaving dust materials into drinage, for fist time 1000 rupees and second time up to 5000 rupees. officials told.
