RTC bus catches fire

Hanmakonda February 22: Thirty passengers on a TSRTC bus managed to avoid a potential fiery end to their lives by escaping from the bus after the vehicle caught fire near Alair in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district on Tuesday.According to RTC officials, the bus driver pulled the vehicle to one side of the road when he noticed smoke coming from the engine.As he raised an alarm, all passengers disembarked from the bus which was on its way from Warangal to Hyderabad. Transport minister P. Mahender Reddy ordered a probe into the mishap. A possible short circuit is suspected to have resulted in the fire but the cause will be determined after a probe, an RTC official said.
