Chandrababu Naidu supports Kodela Shiva Prasad

Amaravati, February 14: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu had condemned comments on Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad s controversial remarks on women and questioned what was wrong in his words. He said it was disgusting to comment on the Speaker. "Instead, he should be resepcted".He said one should maintain dignity and balance while speaking. He spoke to media persons at the Velagapudi Secretariat on the success of NWP on Monday."I had gone through the audio tape of his speech. What is wrong in it? There may be a problem in the way he had expressed. But, he said women should not be confined to homes but should be educated and work and in the process fight for their own protection," Naidu said.Kodela Prasad Rao s statement met with criticism from women across the nation. In his speech, he had compared women with vehicles. He addressed that, "A car would not meet with any accident if it is kept in the shed at home. The chances of accidents increase as it is taken out and as the speed increases". "Likewise, when women remained at home in the past, they did not face atrocities, rapes, and kidnaps. But, now, since they are coming out, the atrocities are increasing", he had said.He also adding that just because the scope for atrocities increases, women should not be confined to homes. They should get education and work and be prepared to face challenges.Naidu alleged that the media and opposition parties are making a big issue out of nothing. "They have changed the positive talks into negative talks, which exposes bad intention in it. National media made a fuss out of it as if something bad has happened. With the money you (YSR Congress) have, you buy all these and create a bad picture about this state.".He also stressed on national media and Deccan chronicles that,"When the delegates were yawned, then media captured and published as, they were sleeping during the speeches.he questioned that, Don t you have yawns? some are adopted to wrote the negative talks on the ruling parties." he said in his interaction with the media at Amaravati on Monday, a day after the national women s parliament concluded.Naidu also defended the police preventing YSR Congress MLA Roja from attending the women conference. "She had issued statements in advance that she would attend to expose the government. How can we allow a person coming after openly declaring her bad intentions to disrupt a prestigious event? There were attempts to stall the CII investment conference in Visakhapatnam but police successfully thwarted the bid.If the police did not act and there was any untoward incident, I would have been forced to take action on them," he addedMr Naidu said Amaravati Declaration was getting support from the United Nations and added that the NWP focused on women s issues and such programs should be continued with more participation of eminent women. The CM also said 33 per cent reservation should be provided to women. He said there was a good response to the NWP in social media, and that it received 7,71,74,960 impressions.
