2000 notes of Fake currency was seized

Hyderabad, February 10: The Shamshabad zone police had arrested four persons, including two B. Tech students for making and circulating fake Rs. 2,000 currency notes in an engineering college canteen.Officials seized the fake notes amounting to Rs. 34.8 lakh from their possession. The accused were identified as Vijay Sharma (40), Mohtesham Ali (45), Wajeehuddin Khan (20) and Abdul Samad (20).The fraud had come to light on February 2 after the person running a canteen at Wajeehuddin s college lodged a complaint with the police that he and his friend Abdul Samad had given him a fake Rs.2000 note. A case was registered. Wajeehuddin and Samad, both students of Lord s College, were arrested along with the other two accused soon after.According to police , Vijay Sharma and Mohtesham were both facing financial difficulties, due to which they decided to make fake currency and pay their debtors. Vijay purchased a printer cum scanner and photostat machine and began making the fake currency at home without his family knowing about it. Mohtesham was given Rs.22 lakh in fake notes by Vijay to clear off his debts with it.The students were caught on Thursday by police who had been tipped off by an alert canteen in-charge at the college.The canteen in-charge had noticed that the students had paid with 2000-rupee note with the same serial number of 939084 .
