Centre Govt. sanctions Rs.800 Cr to Telangana

Hyderabad, January 22: The central government has agreed to release an additional Rs 701.46 crore for laying safe water distribution infrastructure in the fluoride-hit habitations of the Telangana state.It has come after the Centre had approved the release of Rs98.54 crore for temporary measures to be taken up to provide safe drinking water in Telangana earlier.Rural water supply engineering-in-chief Surender Reddy, who met Niti Ayog officials in New Delhi, told media that the Centre wants the works to be completed by September."On our request, the Central government has agreed to allow Telangana government to utilize the total amount of Rs.800 crore on Mission Bhagiratha works for providing piped and safe drinking water to the fluoride-affected villages in the state", he said.
