New Zealand beats India by 80 runs

Blackcaps thrashed India cricket team by 80 runs in 1st T20. It is the biggest loss of men in blue in terms of runs. Previously the biggest loss was of 49run by Australia in 2010.

After winning the toss Rohit Sharma asked New Zealand to bat first. Put into bat, Blackcaps went off to a flier scoring 66runs of the powerplay without losing any wicket. The opening laid the foundation by scoring 86 runs which were later broken by Krunal Pandya when he took the wicket of Colin Munro(34 off 20). Incoming batsman Kane Williamson then joined Seifert in the middle and continued the same scoring rate. The pair took New Zealand past the 100-run mark in no time. But just when things seemed good in the middle, Seifert was sent back by pacer Khaleel Ahmed in the 13th over. While trying to up the ante, the opener was clean bowled by the pacer. In his 43-ball stay, Seifert slammed seven boundaries and six sixes.

Williamson continued scoring runs with debutant Daryl Mitchell, but both got out in consecutive delivery. But, later Ross Taylor (23) and Scott Kuggeleijn (20 off 7) late fireworks helped the cause and NZ posted 219 in 20overs

In reply, India lost the opener Rohit Sharma in the third over. After some lusty blows, Dhawan also got out. After the powerplay, the required rate was above 13. The asking rate got better of the batsman and they succumbed to that and they got all out for 139 in 19.2 overs

Tim Seifert was adjudged Man of the Match for his quickfire 84 runs of 43 balls.
