India bids for hosting Men's or Women's Hockey WC2023

New Delhi, Feb 6: India on Tuesday announced their bid to host either of the FIH men's or women's World Cups in 2023.
india have earlier hosted Men's World Cup thrice, the latest being last year in Bhuvaneshwar. But have never hosted the women's World Cup.

India has proposed of conducting the event for either men or women in the window January 13 to 29,2023. Australia and New Zealand have also opted to conduct the event in the same window.

Other bids have been made for the time window of July 1-17 in 2022 by Germany, Malaysia, and Spain.

International Hockey Federation (FIH) chief executive officer (CEO) Thierry Weil said," FIH is very glad to receive such a strong bid. This shows how appealing our events are", he also added that FIH will examine the bids and then the decision regarding the host of both events will be taken.
