Prasads Imax in trouble for high ticket prices

Hyderabad, Feb 02: After receiving several complaints on Prasads Imax multiplexes on hiking prices for popcorn, cool drinks (or) any other snacks, the Commercial Tax Department has initiated a raid.

Despite the fact that the GST on cinema tickets have been reduced from 28 per cent to 18 per cent, the multiplexes got stuck to their old manner and continued to hike the prices on food items failing to provide customer convenience to the audience.

Under the supervision of the Commercial Tax Department, Joint Commissioner K. Vinay Kumar Anti-profiteering team conducted inspections and confirmed the collection of higher GST.

The matter is being brought to the attention of the state level screening committee and in turn, the legal action will proceed on iMax.

In the wake of the reduction of GST from 18 to 12 per cent on the latest budget, the ticket prices will fall further.
